"He was a fortune teller"...

I have, for as far back as I can remember, always found great joy in music. It has soothed me, riled me, made me laugh, cry, dance, sing, remember, forget, feel. I am eternally grateful for this entity thats followed me throughout my life.

A few months ago, a friend of mine let me upload his entire hardrive, chalk full of new music, to my computer. 5,000 songs later and I'm STILL discovering tiny new treasures on my i-tunes. It was one of the best gifts anyone had ever given me, and we had only been friends for a good month. Thats another thing that music has given me, a handful of friends. All of my best ones were ones I made through a connection over tastes in music.

Anywho, a couple days ago while making yet another mix c.d. for the days errands, I found a song that has quickly become my favorite song. Ever.

That's a pretty big thing for me to admit, since I have many a beloved song, many an endeared lyric, and I've never been able to settle on one single song. That was, of course, until I met The One.

Its called "Chico" and its by the Concretes.

I clicked on it on a whim in the midst of cleaning our room and suddenly I stopped as though I felt a ghosts hand on my shoulder, turned around, and stared at the screen.

"What is THIS!" I wondered.

My heart seized up at the perfectly constructed melodies, soon tears welled up in my eyes, astonished at all the beauty filling my ears. It was love at first listen.

I've been listening to it constantly for the last few days and it still fills my chest with warmth. It's these little moments that make me stop and appreciate everything.

"when I'm out, when I'm out , when I'm out, when I'm out of love"...

From Ramen noodles to violins

"chicofriend , chicofriend, chicofriend, chichofriend will be around"...

and tiny hazel eyes that smile at me in the morning

"he will carry me, carry me, carry me, carry me"

and lifes unknown yet eventful twists and turns and friends

"fill my heart, fill my heart, fill my heart"...

and green wine and great in-laws

"he will ease, he will ease, he will ease, he will ease my mind"...

and love

"because he was a fortune teller"....

P.S.- I highly recommend listening to this song. Preferably in a dim room, maybe with a candle or two, definitely.

Word. I felt complete. "Chico" was my Rene Zellwegger, if you will.
